Proud Finalists: Watters Electrical and the Tesla Goulburn Supercharger Project

Proud Finalists: Watters Electrical and the Tesla Goulburn Supercharger Project

We are delighted to share that Watters Electrical was named a finalist at the 2025 NECA NSW Excellence Awards for our involvement in the Tesla Goulburn Supercharger Installation. Although we didn’t take home the top prize, we’re immensely proud to have been the team behind the creation of the largest EV charging station in the Southern Hemisphere.

Project in Focus: The Tesla Goulburn Supercharger Site

This landmark installation includes 20 Tesla V4 Supercharger stalls, making it the largest facility of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Located on Lockyer Street in Goulburn – just off the Hume Highway and near the iconic Big Merino – the site offers up to 250 kW of rapid charging per connector and is accessible to all CCS2-compatible electric vehicles.

Strategically positioned between Sydney and Canberra, this hub eases long-distance travel concerns and significantly boosts EV infrastructure across regional New South Wales.

What This Means for Watters Electrical

While we narrowly missed out on winning the NECA NSW Excellence Award, being acknowledged as finalists is a testament to our skills and dedication. This recognition highlights our capability to deliver large-scale, technically complex renewable energy projects in regional Australia.

We’re also thrilled to celebrate our apprentice, Ryan Phegan, who proudly took out third place in the Apprentice of the Year Award. His achievement is a reflection of the next generation of talent we are fostering at Watters Electrical and we couldn’t be prouder of his hard work and commitment.

Thank You – and What’s Next

  • A heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone involved – our dedicated team, partners and collaborators -who made these achievements possible. Though the top award may not be ours, the impact of the project and recognition of our people certainly are. Together, we’ve helped pave the way for a more connected and sustainable future.

Stay tuned for more project updates and thank you for your continued support as we power the next generation of innovation.
