Tesla Superchargers Goulburn

Watters Electrical delivered the largest EV charging facility in the Southern Hemisphere – a 20-stall Tesla V4 Supercharger site in Goulburn, NSW. Located near the iconic Big Merino, the hub is a key addition to the Sydney–Canberra EV corridor.

The project created a high-capacity, fast-charging station to support both Tesla and CCS2-compatible EVs, with integrated civil infrastructure, landscaping and modern amenities to ensure accessibility and visual appeal.

Works included underground conduits, mains cabling, control and telecom systems, air compressors, street lighting, drainage, concrete surfaces, pedestrian walkways, car park construction, fencing, landscaping and custom metal fabrication. As principal contractor, Watters managed all trades and delivered the project on time and within budget.

Innovation was central, with redesigned conduit layouts, aluminium cabling for efficiency and an upgrade from 120 kW to 520 kW superchargers, reducing EV charging times significantly. The site was seamlessly integrated with both AC and DC systems, optimising performance.

Across 2,384 hours on site, the project was completed with zero LTIs or MTIs, supported by robust WHS processes. Sustainability was also prioritised through efficient trenching, recycling practices and long-term energy-efficient infrastructure.

Being named a finalist in the NECA NSW Excellence Awards highlighted the achievement. This project reinforces Watters Electrical’s reputation for delivering high-performance, innovative and sustainable infrastructure across the region.

The customer also took advantage of the Solar Victoria Battery Rebate and the Federal Government STC incentive.
